A while back, Google Video launched to a deafening round of yawns- the available content was extremely limited and terribly uninteresting.
Enter YouTube.com.
YouTube offered users a much more robust experience with plenty of user submitted content covering a vast array of topics, from mundane to insane. Now, YouTube is a blossoming media juggernaut and one of the most trafficked sites online.
Google has been working to make their video offering another income stream, but YouTube would give them a lot more eyeballs on the content they want to monetize. This would be a very interesting development for search marketers, like myself, who may be able to target video content the way Google allows site targeting. Imagine have Mentos as a client and targeting your ads to the seemingly endless numbers of Mentos & Diet Coke videos on YouTube.
The possibilities are endless…
