Helping an Injured Pooch
Feb 21st, 2008 |
This is my dog, Sergeant Grumbles. He’s an 11 month old English Bulldog. The other day, Grumbles lost nearly all of his mobility in his hind legs. He was able to stand for only short periods and could barely hobble down the hall, preferring instead to drag his hind quarters using just his front legs.
We took him to the emergency room at Angell Animal Medical Center here in Boston. They initially thought he had a spinal injury, however it turned out to be a torn cranial cruciate ligament in both of his knees, which requires surgery to repair. These surgeries will be done one at a time with a 6 to 8 week recovery between each procedure, and will cost a few thousand dollars each. During the 12 to 16 weeks of total recovery time, he won’t be allowed to use stairs, get on or off furniture or play with other dogs.
If you would like to make a donation to help cover the cost Grumbles’ knee surgeries you can do so by clicking the donate button below. Any amount will be sincerely appreciated and anything collected beyond the cost of the procedures will be donated to Angell Animal Medical Center.
